Translation

Nutung is the method of cooking food in bamboo culms. The food that has been cooked in this way is then senutung (or steamed in bamboo).

Method

1. Kelabit
   Nutung lem buluq:
   a) muruq buluq dih dooq-dooq
   b) nipa lamud nuk tu'en ngelaak dih lem buluq
   c) ngeseng buluq ngen daun ubih
   d) nadang buluq dih iring apui (na'am muneng tu'uh, jagaq dih meseb)
   e) ngerier-ngerier buluq dih, dooq teh nuk kenen dih dooq paad laak.
2. Malay
   Memasak menggunakan buluh:
   a) buluh yang hendak digunakan dibersihkan terlebih dahulu
   b) bahan yang telah disediakan dimasukkan ke dalam buluh
   c) mulut buluh, kemudiannya, disumbat dengan daun seperti pucuk ubi
   d) buluh kemudian diletakkan berdekatan dengan api (tetapi tidak terlalu dekat supaya buluh tidak hangus) 
   e) buluh akan dialihkan setiap masa supaya makanan masak dengan sama rata 
3. English
   The method of cooking using bamboo:
   a) the bamboo used is cleaned
   b) prepared food placed into the bamboo through the only outlet
   c) the outlet, then, is sealed with leaves such as tapioca leaves
   d) bamboo is then placed close to the cooking fire (but not too close to avoid bamboo from being burnt)
   e) bamboo is turned around regularly so food will be cooked evenly
