Usage
- Very poisonous. People have been known to commit suicide by eating the raw leaves. All species of Gelsemium contain the alkaloids gelsemin and sempervirin, and intake of these causes strong perspiration followed by faintness and convulsions, ending with respiratory paralysis and death.(1)
